HIT or MISS? Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water in Oil Review

The original pink-lid Garnier Micellar Water is literally my ride-or-die out of more than a handful of micellar waters I've tried (see my video review Battle of Micellar Water which compared 4 micellar waters). They launched a Micellar Water Pure Active for oily skin (blue liquid) about 6 months ago (see my Insta mini review here), and I really enjoyed it since I have combination skin, but somehow I'm still more attached to the original formula.

It doesn't just end there, Garnier just brought out this new Micellar Cleansing Water in Oil plus an Micellar Wipes in Oil. Aren't micellar water suppose to be refreshing and non-greasy, so what's all this business about adding oil in there? Let's find out!

Before using the new micellar water, I gave it a good shake to mix the oil and the water. Above image is how the product look like once all mixed well together. Upon the application with a cotton pad, I feel like it removes similar amount of makeup as the original micellar and the oil/combo skin micellar. The extra oil didn't seem to remove the waterproof makeup much faster. The good note is that this is definitely not greasy at all, you really can't feel any oil-ness from the oil in the bottle, which is a bit relief cause it was a big worry I had before trying it out. A downside of this product is that it has a very strong fragrance, I don't know how to describe this scent very well but it's quite a clean smell. The scent stays on your face even after cleansing it with water and after applying skincare products. Usually scents don't really bother me but I think this fragrance stays on face way to much than I would like in a skincare product.

Just like the Micellar Water in Oil, this Micellar Wipes in Oil has the exact same fragrance which I think is a bit too strong for my liking. Other than that one little disappointment, this could possibly be my favourite makeup remover wipe ever! It feels so much more gentle on the skin than most of other makeup remover wipes, and it removes all the makeup including tough waterproof ones really really well.

Overall for me, it's a NO to the Micellar Water In Oil and a YES to the Micellar Wipes in Oil. This new makeup remover is absolutely amazing and I'll definitely keep using it when I'm travelling. I'd still stick to the original pink-lid Garnier Micellar Water, it's still my favourite out of all micellar!! xx

Which micellar water you've tried and what's your favourite one? I'd like to know as I'm obsessed with micellar water in general! xx
