Urban Decay Naked On The Run Palette // Swatches & Review

When Urban Decay first launched Naked On The Run Palette, or even before the launch, I felt like it was one of the biggest creation of Urban Decay after seeing their social media posts. I was so interested in the idea having almost everything apart from foundation and brushes in one little palette which could be fit in your bag or to take when you're travelling.

I posted a photo from Sephora ages ago on my Instagram asking your guys suggestion, and I bought it before Christmas time, and received it with some other goodies I bought from USA at the start of January. I was beyond excited when I first received and opened the palette, and couldn't wait to dig into it. But after all these months, I feel like I've barely actually touched it, and I will tell you why.

Urban Decay Naked On The Run Palette Review
The palette comes with 6 eyeshadows, bronzer, blush, mascara, eye pencil and a lip gloss. It really seems like you're getting a lot in one little palette, and not to mention how generous the mirror size is! It seems like everything will go well together super well just looking at it.

Urban Decay Naked On The Run Palette Swatches
Left to Right:
Eyeshadows (Dive, Fix, Resist, Dare, Sin), bronzer, blush, Eyeshadow (5050),  24/7 Eye Pencil (Stag), Naked Lipgloss (Sesso)
Swatches still turns out kinda nicely, but I would have to say the eyeshadows are a bit dry or chalky, definitely not as buttery and smooth like the first two Naked Palettes (the eyeshadow is similar to Naked 3 Palette's consistency, which I'm not a big fan of). And if you just stare at the shade 2-5 on my arm, don't they all look too similar? I would appreciate it a lot more if they could make one of the matte brown either lighter or darker, so there would be more of a difference between the two. And if only they could swap the 5th colour (Sin) to a shimmer champaign, this palette would make so much more sense to me eyeshadow wise.

The colour beside the blush which is called '5050', I thought it was suppose to be a highlighter for the face but actually it was just an eyeshadow. I know powder products are multi-purpose, but this shade is a bit too satin or almost matte for me to highlight my cheekbones, what a shame.

Bronzer shade is a bit too warm, but you still could work around with it, I won't complain this as much as the eyeshadow colour arrangements.

A lot of people complained about the blush colour when I was reading reviews online before I bought this. It doesn't bother me that this is a bright pink colour as my skin tone is a bit tanned. But why wouldn't they use more of a 'peachy' colour to fit into the whole 'Naked' theme? Anyway, a lot of things that I couldn't understand about this palette, and this is one of them.

Their new mascara 'Perversion' has been raved so much by Urban Decay, but honestly there's nothing special at all about this mascara. Yes it is a nice mascara, but I don't feel like it does much to my lashes (doesn't give me the wow effect at all) compared to the other high end brands mascara that I use. Urban Decay definitely need to step up the mascara game, either formula and wand quite outdated in the market.

After all the complaining, the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Stag, and the Naked Lipgloss in Sesso actually won my heart. I've been using the eye pencil the most out of the whole palette and it's getting pretty short now. The lip gloss is a very neutral and easy to wear colour, and isn't sticky at all on the lips.

Overall I felt like I just wasted all the money, I could of bought 3 eye pencil from Urban Decay or an eyeshadow palette from another high end brand. Sometimes they just rave too hard and makes you feel like you NEED IT, when you totally don't. And the pressure of being a YouTuber and having your followers expecting you to try out the new products doesn't help either.

I'm definitely not getting much use of this palette. I will pass it on to mum or someone else that need a palette like this.

Have you guys tried or own the Urban Decay Naked On The Run Palette? If so what do you think about it? OR have you had super high hopes of any high end makeup products and completely felt disappointed after the purchase?

  1. Thanks for the honest review! I agree that the palette would be a million times better if the eyeshadow colors were more varied. Will definitely save my money on this one…

  2. You're welcome. I normally do love all my high end palettes, but this one was just a huge disappointment!

  3. Oh wow the swatches are gorgeous! But I agree, I would just prefer normal palettes instead.
I feel like I would never carry this around with me too? I feel like it would be too heavy and I'd be so worried if I was careless just dropping my bag around & it would all shatter :/

  5. At first I was kind of skeptical about this palette, but the more I see it the more I realise how great it would be when you're in a rush!

  6. I was so attracted by this when I saw it and despite my gazillion palettes, I just hey-ho, might as well. I might as well not have. So very, very meh. The eye shadows are an utter let down...I have to mix them with a bit of primer to make them stay on my lids! The blusher barely shows, the bronzer is...odd, just plain odd. The lip gloss is just...a lip gloss. I felt quite depressed after this purchase!

  9. Aw, sorry to hear it's not for you! I totally get it though. I find that they could have changed a few things like maybe having one dark shadow, a blush that wasn't so cool tone and also a small highlighter! I initially anted this really badly but now that I've seen plenty of reviews I can definitely pass on this one!

  11. Only if they could of put better colour selection into the palette though, I don't feel like these colours are perfect for everyday wear...

  12. Same here! Eyeshadows are so not up for Urban Decay's standards, the only thing I actually enjoy in the palette is just the eye pencil, which I could of just pay and got a full side one anyway. I was real upset I wasted money on this palette which I had such a big expectation for!

  13. I wish I held myself back, but it was just sooooo raved up by UD and some of the bloggers that always reviews UD's new release. Should of stayed calmed and waited a little while till I saw more reviews :(

  14. I am not drawn to the shades in this palette, especially because they seem kind of mid toned and its missing a dark eyeshadow. I guess I'm happy I didn't lust after it :)

  16. I'm sorry you're disappointed :( I think the way it's packaged it looks as if you're getting a lot of product for your money but you really don't :( xx

  17. No worries at all :) I'm glad I tried it at least (otherwise somewhere deep down would always wanting to buy it eventually haha), and could let others know more about this palette if they're on the edge about buying xx
